A dark twist on the classic fairytale of The Sleeping Beauty as written by Charles Perrault in the 17th century, made well known by Disney in the 20th century, but the earliest known version was found in the 14th century in the narrative Perceforest, published by Giambattista Basile in 1634. In our take on the tale, the Princess has a dark secret and is less than impressed when the Prince takes 100 years to rescue her from her slumbers and resists all attempts to be woken, preferring to stay in her beautiful dream and dancing out the palace with joy.
